Important News!!
I would like to thank all that supported the injunction brought
forth by CANY and NYRPA that forced the governor to reconsider and
keep the Reynolds Game Farm open. The injunction stopped the governor
from disposing of any birds or equipment until a trial that was scheduled
for January 23. After the Governor and Commissioner were notified
of the injunction, they contacted the heads of CANY and NYRPA to let
them know that they had reconsidered the game farm closure and were
willing to work with the sportsmen. While this is a great win, there
will be more work for ALL of us to accomplish. Let's all be ready
to work hard to allow our children and grandchildren the ability to
enjoy hunting and the outdoors as we all have.
Any input would be appreciated,
Gene Molyneaux, President of CANY
A special thank you to Dan Platt, our Region 3 Representative who
was instrumental in all of the legal filings. You did a great job!
CANY filed for a restraining order barring the closure of Reynolds
Game Farm and the disposal of the pheasants. The legal points involved
disposition of capital assets or their proceeds of the Fish and Wildlife
Department, disposition of programs supported by prior P-R grants,
and failure to formally report intent with accounting to the Conservation
Fund Advisory Board. While the Governor's press releases appear to
show compliance, our case is not resolved until the legal documents
of the case are finalized.
